The Net Zero Bayers Lake Industrial Centre is a new, state-of-the-art, Zero Carbon industrial building consisting of two adjacent warehouses totalling over 400,000 ft²  in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  As one of Atlantic Canada’s largest business parks, the Bayers Lake Industrial Center focuses on a low-carbon energy building design and is compliant with the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) Zero Carbon Building Design Standard.

 

Bayer’s Lake Industrial Centre features a thermally efficient load-bearing tilt-up building system with increased roof insulation and vertical loading docks, a Solar PV system, centralized in-floor heating, heat recovery ventilation, and provision for natural light into the warehouse space, coupled with efficient sensor-controlled LED lighting.

 

LMMW Group is proud to be part of this development as a subcontractor to builder Lindsay Construction. LMMW provided energy modelling during the design phase, working collaboratively with the builder and design engineers to ensure building construction features would meet the objectives of the client and CaGBC certification.  During the construction phase, LMMW delivered a total of 535kWdc of ballasted, roof-mounted Solar PV across both buildings as two interconnected systems.
